Cadan Design were privileged to be approached by one the UKs leading design practices to assist on the production of modelling and drawings of a stage 3 and stage 4 design for this a state-of-the-art research, development, and manufacturing centre. The site included the design of over 50,000 square meters of facilities spread across 3 main buildings, including an office space, a dedicated energy centre, and a large manufacturing area with underground services link tunnel. From the ground up, we modelled this niche project which included many specialist services and systems. This included over twenty-two different types of ventilation systems supplied in ductwork in sizes up to 2300mm in diameter. Twenty-four different types of water systems, supplied in pipes up to 600mm in diameter and over 80 specialised, process, chemical and gas systems, which were coordinated as the design progressed. The Cadan Design team worked with the Buro Happold designers from multiple global locations, using cloud technology to help bring together this project. As coordination lead, we assisted with the designs coordination across the entire site, including the production of over 800 design drawings for each issue.
