Cadan Design were approached by the main contractor Mansell, as the BIM consultant to complete this demanding project in-line with the BIM Level 2 requirements, along with full integration of COBie and custom data to be embedded within the BIM model.
During Stage 5, part of our process, we included the total re-design and coordination of the energy centre layout. Our improved scheme including a 50% increase for future expansion and included CDM considerations such as maintenance service walkways. Through precise modelling and utilising the information contained within the in-house made content, we were able to demonstrate many of the processes from BIM including design, coordination, materials take off, procurement information and offsite modular fabrication. Cadan Design worked with the universities FM team to collect the information and field data, including serial numbers, barcodes, and installation dates. The data was integrated back into the BIM model, to be further exported as an Asset Information Model (AIM) and exported / imported to the end clients existing FM system. To validate the installation, we provided an 'As Built' laser scan and accompanying 3D photography for clarification.
